Finishing and Detailing

“Finishing” is the addition of special detailing such as pleats, embroidery and screen printing to a garment. This includes hand stitching (unseen handwork done inside collars and lapels to give them shape) and its automated substitutes. This may also include adding buttons, hooks, eyes, or trims, as well as clipping loose threads. All finishing of moderate- and lower-priced garments is done by machine.

It is possible to press samples of light clothing, such as dresses, blouses and night dresses, onversatile unit equipped with a hand iron. However, if the samples are of constructed garments, while most of the simple under pressing operations can be performed with a hand iron, there are still several operations which require the specialized machines in the factory. This is especiallyrelevant to top pressing where to most of the operations are performed on special purpose machines. Some garments, dyeing is done after final assembly in order to ensure a perfect colour match for items intended to be worn together.
