Layout /Cutting Marking

apparel apparel-making After purchasing fabric, pattern, notions, and preparing the fabric (on grain and re-shrunk / washed), you are ready to do the pattern layout. A layout is a plan for the placement of pattern pieces on the fabric. There are various categories of layout marking like grainlines, place of fold brackets, notches etc. There are also various methods of cutting marking such as single size, multi size and cutting in a particular body size

Twill Weaves

fabric weaving Twill is a type of textile weave with a pattern of diagonal parallel ribs. It can be identified by looking at the presence of pronounced diagonal lines that run along the width of the fabric. It has higher resistance to tearing than a plain weave because it has fewer yarn interlacing per area, therefore a greater degree of internal mobility. In addition, two yarns will bear the load when the fabric is torn.

Interlining

apparel knitting Interlining is basically anything used between two layers of fabric to give more body. A fusible interlining is thin layer made from woven, knitted or non-woven material bonded mechanically or thermally which when fused with fabric panel.

Characteristics of Textile Blended yarn and fabric

yarn characteristics of textile blended yarns like- shrinks or not, water absorbent , has creases or not, has luster or not, soft/hard. Each kind of fibre has its own characteristics, when mixing them, one should consider their characteristics to create a hybrid with the characteristics needed.

Substrate Formation

knitting spinning weaving yarn Textile substrates are formed from yarns or fibre webs by several techniques including weaving, knitting, tufting, and nonwoven formation. Composites of textile substrates are formed by bonding two fabrics together by use of an adhesive to form a bonded substrate or backed substrate or by application of cut fibres to an adhesive-coated substrate to form a flocked substrate.

Linen

fiber Linen is an ancient fiber. It has been found in ancient tombs, and was used in burial shrouds for Egyptian pharaohs.

Microscopic appearance of Fibres

fiber Technical tests require skilled personnel who can handle and use the equipment and chemicals for the analysis of the textile fibres. Among microscopic tests and chemical tests, microscopic tests are mainly used for natural fibre. The test identifies the natural fibres more easily as compared to manmade ones. Synthetic fibres are very similar in appearance and the increase in the number of varieties makes it a little tough to distinguish the fibres even under a microscope. The longitudinal and c

Trims and Accessories

apparel assorted To fulfill the design objectives we need different kind of materials. Fabrics are the main material, which used for garment manufacturing. We need other materials also, which make the garmentsaesthetic, functional and commercially required. Usually other than fabrics these material used for making garments are called trims and accessories.
