An important factor that influences the prominence of twill is the direction of twist in the yarn. When the direction of yarn twist is same as the twill direction, the prominence is reduced and when the direction of the the yarn twist is opposite to the twill direction, the prominence of the twill is increased. In other words a Z twill with Z twist yarn or an S twill with S twist yarn shows less prominence.
We need to make sure that the customer is aware of the properties and characteristics of the fabrics. It is the designer's responsibility to select the appropriate fabrics for their intended applications, but it is the responsibility of the fabric producer to provide as much information as possible to help customers make appropriate fabric selections. Like physical porperties, style characterstics, tactile characteristics, utility characteristics, durability and so on..
In warp knitting a yarn guide wraps the yarn around the needle hook, thus forming a loop. However, to form a fabric, the yarn guide must wrap the yarn around a different needle during the next course. The yarn guides, therefore, must be displaced laterally during knitting. Different warp knitted structures are produced by varying the magnitude of their lateral displacement. Therefore warp knitted structures can be described by noting the guide bar displacement.
Twill Weave is strong and hard-wearing, used for fashion and furnishing fabrics. In plain weave the warp and weftare aligned so that they form a simple criss-cross pattern. Each weft thread crosses the warp threads by going over one, then under the next, and so on. The next weft thread goes under the warp threads thatits neighbor went over, and vice versa. Plain weave is also known as “tabby weave” or “taffeta weave”.Twill is a type of fabric woven with a pattern of diagonal parallel ribs.
In weaving, no matter what type of weaving is being done, four major operations are performed in sequence and are continuously repeated, they are Shedding, Picking, Beating Up, Taking Up and Letting Off
The vast variety of fabrics available today, makes their identification important. We know that variety is created by using different fibres in combination. Knowledge of the fibre content of a fabric is therefore necessary to know its suitability, use and care. Labels and sales persons are not always able to guide us.Fabric samples,Fabric specification, lead times are some of the ways to identify the fabric.
Certain weaves, based on their construction or use are group into categories, For instance , the plain weave may be considered as a standard construction .One of the largest of these classes is that of twill weaves, which are so called because of the peculiar effect they form on the surface of the fabric. Many of the simpler twills have , like the plain weave , acquired distinctive names by which they are readily recogonised by experienced designers.
