Schiffli Embroidery

embroidery finishing Schiffli embroidery is produced by machines with several hundred needles placed horizontally one above the other.

Major Loom Systems

Seam Types

apparel Seam types are the place where two pieces of fabric are joined by application of a series of stitches or stitch types with a defined geometry. Over the years there are a number of different types of seams that have been developed to do different jobs. Many have largely been superseded by the development of machine stitches that finish as you sew them, and by the development of the over locker (or serger in some parts of the world), it is useful to know some of the basic seams types and finishes.

Schiffli Embroidery Fabric Fixation Systems

embroidery finishing Magic tape fixation and needle fixation are the widely used fabric fixation systems in Schiffli machine embroidery.

Determination of energy consumption for chosen yarn

spinning yarn In order to obtain the specifc energy consumption of any yarn, each an every machine in the spinning operations right from the bale opener and the approach should be repeated for the rest of the machine/step.

Lap Former Process

yarn In Lap-former machine, slivers are fed to form a lap of 20 inches wide condensed with a slight draft and weighing as per set length. The machine run smoothly so as not to disturb the fibres which undergo combing at the comber machines. One such Lap former is sufficient to feed 8 comber machines.

Importance of Cutting Room

apparel apparel-making Where large quantities of a garment style must be cut, a lay is created which consists of many plies of fabric spread one above the other. From this, all the garment pieces for all the sizes that have been planned for that lay are cut. The pattern shapes for these garments may be drawn on a paper marker placed on top of the lay, or information as to their shape and position may be held within a computer, to be plotted similarly on a paper marker or used to drive an automatic cutter.

Ticketing and Bar-coding

apparel Retailers request that manufacturers supply them with ?hanger ready? garments; in other words, the garments must be pre-ticketed with bar-coded price tags attached and hung on the hangers the retailers will use

Yarn guide movement around a knitting needle

fabric knitting In warp knitting a yarn guide wraps the yarn around the needle hook, thus forming a loop. However, to form a fabric, the yarn guide must wrap the yarn around a different needle during the next course. The yarn guides, therefore, must be displaced laterally during knitting. Different warp knitted structures are produced by varying the magnitude of their lateral displacement. Therefore warp knitted structures can be described by noting the guide bar displacement.

Drive and control of weaving machines

fabric weaving The latest weaving machines are equipped with microprocessor or PLC units which ensure continuously the control, the drive and the monitoring of the various machine members and of the various functions. One of the ways to increase production is to design and manufacture particular weaving machines which can offer very high weft insertion rates.
