Bale Net Wrap per Bale, Bales per Roll & Rolls per Season

A roll is sold by the metre, a bale is wrapped by the turn. This converts one into the other.

Bale & Wrapping From the baler
m

The finished diameter the baler is set to.

turns

Full turns of net the baler applies. Set it from the baler manual and the crop; a fraction counts.

%

The net is pulled on under tension and covers more bale than its own length. Use the net maker's figure; enter 0 to count unstretched.

Full rolls on hand. The shortfall is what to buy.

The wrap count is the baler's setting, not a property of the net: more turns for dry, springy crops and long hauls, fewer for silage that is film-wrapped straight after. Stretch is the net maker's figure for the tension the baler applies; at 0 the result is the net the bale would take if it were laid on without tension, which is the upper bound. Bale diameter is the finished diameter, so a baler set small or a chamber not filled uses less net per bale than this says. Bales per roll is rounded down because a bale cannot be bound with the tail end of one roll and the start of the next without a change on the machine. **This is a quantity take-off from the baler settings; it does not choose the wrap count for the crop.**
