Conveyor Belt Length: Two-Pulley Loop, Splice Allowance, Wrap Angle, Roll Diameter & Mass

Two pulleys twenty metres apart need nearly forty-two metres of belt, and more again for the splice.

The loop is measured on the belt's pitch line, taken here as the pulley diameter plus one belt thickness, which is where the length of a wrapped belt does not change. It is a two-pulley loop: snub, bend and take-up pulleys and a gravity take-up loop add length, so measure a complex run along the belt path instead. The splice length is the belt maker's for the splice method; this tool adds it once. Rolled diameter treats the belt as wound tight on the core. Mass is length times width times the mass per square metre. **The tool measures the belt; it does not check the belt rating or the pulley diameters against the carcass.**
