Mercerising
Baumé is a float reading, not a concentration. And the strongest caustic in the trade does nothing if the cloth is through the box in twenty seconds.

Converted from the Baumé reading
Baumé is temperature-sensitive and mercerising liquor is not at hydrometer reference temperature, so correct the reading or titrate the bath — the linear fit here is a shop-floor convenience, not an analytical method. Concentration below the swelling threshold gives no mercerising effect at any dwell time; the two are not interchangeable.
