Broadloom Latex Backing Coat Weight vs Tuft Bind Strength

Bind strength saturates. Past the knee you are paying to evaporate water and stiffen the back, not to hold tufts in.

Where the required bind is set at or above the saturated bind, no add-on reaches it and the coat weight returned is a very large number rather than an answer — that is the model telling you the compound is wrong, not the coating. Drying energy counts only the latent heat of the water and ignores sensible heating, oven losses and the exhaust, so a real oven draws well above it. Tuft bind is also a loop-versus-cut-pile question: cut pile is tested on a single leg and reads roughly half what the same carpet reads as loop.
