Production Planning
A slightly negative balance drains the buffer invisibly for a fortnight, then stops the shed all at once.
— kg/day
Yarn the weaving shed consumes per day
A single average count and one efficiency figure stand in for the whole shed, which is fine for a sizing exercise and wrong for a schedule — styles differ in count, width and pick density, and the mix is what actually determines demand. Efficiency is also not constant across the week, so a balance that works on average can still starve looms during a good run. The buffer figure assumes yarn is fungible between looms; where styles need specific counts or lots, cover must be held per lot and the total is considerably larger.
