Rope and cord making machines twist yarns into strands and then lay several strands together with twist in the opposite direction to form a laid rope, or twist and cable yarns into cords. They follow yarn twisting and are distinct from braiding machines, which interlace rather than twist the components. Number of strands, rope diameter range and production speed are compared.
25 models of this class are held. None of them carries its builder's published figures yet - the register knows the machines exist and not what they do.
