Higg MSI Higg Materials Sustainability Index

Cradle-to-gate impact scores for materials, used to compare one fibre or fabric against another at the design stage. An assessment delivered through a commercial platform rather than a published standard document. A facility or brand completes it, a verifier checks the responses, and the output is a score rather than a pass or a certificate.

What this standard is for

What to watch for

Compares materials to the factory gate and stops there, so it says nothing about use, laundering or end of life - the stages that dominate the footprint of many garments. Comparisons drawn from it are only as good as that boundary. The publisher does not state a version for this module anywhere on its public site, so this record carries none. Ask Cascale which version an assessment was completed against before comparing two of them.
