Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2023 — S.O. 4248(E)

From 1 July 2024, each of the 20 agro-textile products listed in the Agro Textiles (Quality Control) Order, 2023, among them insect, hail, shade-support and fencing nets, mulch mats, crop covers and irrigation lay-flat tubes, must conform to the Indian Standard named against it and carry the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards (Scheme-I of Schedule-II, BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018), whether made in India or imported. Goods made for export are outside the order.

Woven ground covers for horticulture (IS 16202:2014); 4. Jute mat for plant growth and weed suppression (IS 17070:2019); 5. HDPE woven beds for vermiculture (IS 15907:2010); 6. Jute sapling bags (IS 16089:2013); 7. HDPE laminated woven lay-flat tube for irrigation (IS 16190:2014); 8. Nylon knitted seamless gloves for tobacco harvesters (IS 16390:2015); 9. HDPE laminated woven lay-flat tube for drip irrigation mains and submains (IS 16627:2017); 10. Spunbonded nonwoven mulch mat (IS 17355:2020); 11. Windshield nets (IS 17356:2020); 12. Harvest nets (IS 17357:2020); 13. Fencing nets, extruded polymer mesh (IS 17358 (Part 1):2020); 14. Fencing nets, monofilament and tape yarn (IS 17358 (Part 2):2020); 15. Plant support nets (IS 17513:2020); 16. HDPE laminated woven lay-flat tube and fittings for rain irrigation (IS 17728:2021); 17. Flexible water storage tanks (IS 17729:2021); 18. Hail protection nets, warp knitted (IS 17730 (Part 1):2021); 19. Hail protection nets, woven (IS 17730 (Part 2):2021); 20. Laminated woven orchard protection covers (IS 17731:2021). The order gives micro and small enterprises no later date. BIS showed no later edition of any of these 20 standards on 3 October 2026.

Order S.O. 4248(E) of 27 September 2023, to apply from 1 April 2024; S.O. 1579(E) of 28 March 2024 moved the whole order to 1 July 2024.
