AS/NZS 1249 Children's nightwear and limited daywear having reduced fire hazard
The standard two governments have made compulsory rather than advisory. Australia declares it a safety standard under the Australian Consumer Law; New Zealand applies it through its own product safety regulations. It sorts garments into fire hazard categories and fixes what the label has to say about the category a garment falls in.

Verification coverage
Checked against AS/NZS. Not yet checked: ISO, EN, BS, JIS — an absent row here does not mean no equivalent exists.
What this standard is for
Where it is used
Australia, through the Consumer Goods (Children's Nightwear and Limited Daywear and Paper Patterns for Children's Nightwear) Safety Standard 2017, which is in this register. New Zealand, through the Product Safety Standards (Children's Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2016, which is not.
Why it matters
Supplying a garment that does not comply is not a quality failure but a contravention: in Australia section 106 of the Australian Consumer Law prohibits the supply, the offer, and the manufacture or possession for supply, and carries a pecuniary penalty. The garment does not have to injure anyone for the contravention to exist.
What to watch for
The edition is fixed, not floating. The Australian instrument applies the edition in force on 15 September 2017, so Amendment 2:2017 falls inside that date and anything published after it does not, whatever the publisher currently sells as current. The publisher lists two amendments against this edition, A1:2014 and A2:2017, sold separately from the base document - a purchase of the base standard alone is not the text the instrument names. Note also that Standards Australia's own store does not serve a working page for this edition; the link here is to the joint publisher in New Zealand.
