ISO 1833-26 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 26: Mixtures of melamine with certain other fibres (method using hot formic acid)
Melamine fibres separated using hot formic acid. Melamine is a flame-resistant fibre found in protective clothing and upholstery, and blends containing it are usually being tested because a fire-performance claim depends on the proportion. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
