What this standard is for
Where it is used
Cotton trading contracts, warehouse and container planning, and freight quotations.
Why it matters
Bale density decides how much cotton fits in a container, and therefore freight cost per tonne. It also decides warehouse footprint and what handling equipment is needed, both of which are committed long before the cotton arrives.
What to watch for
Bale weights vary by origin even where dimensions do not. Contract on mass, and treat dimensions as a logistics input rather than a quantity.
Calculators that implement this
- Bale Density, Press Duty & Container Fill
- Card Sliver Draft, Can Capacity & Change Interval
- Cone Package Density, Volume & Dye Penetration Margin
- Ring Spinning Tension, End Breakage Rate & Efficiency Loss
