LWG Commissioning Manufacturer Audit Standard

For a company that buys and owns leather but has subcontractors carry out the manufacturing operations. Launched 2020. A voluntary audit standard for a facility, not a test method and not a product certification. The output is a rated certification of the site rather than a claim about any particular hide.

What this standard is for

Why it matters

Certification here requires the ENTIRE production chain to be audited and certified, not only the company holding the certificate. A commissioning manufacturer cannot pass by being well run itself.

What to watch for

The publisher states a launch year for this standard but no version number, so this record carries no edition. Ask LWG which revision an audit was performed against before comparing two certificates.
