OEKO-TEX
OEKO-TEX STeP - Sustainable Textile and Leather Production
Certifies the production facility rather than the product, across six modules covering chemical management, environmental performance and management, social responsibility, quality management and health and safety. A voluntary certification standard, not a test method. Conformity is demonstrated by testing and audit through OEKO-TEX member institutes, and the certificate is what moves with the goods.

What this standard is for
Why it matters
The distinction that trips people up: this says something about the factory, while STANDARD 100 says something about the article. A supplier holding one has not thereby got the other.
What to watch for
The edition is inside the document and not in its web address. OEKO-TEX serves the current document at a permanent URL, so a link saved in a quality manual quietly starts pointing at a later edition with different limit values. Cite the edition, never just the link.
