Steamer (fixation and ageing)

A steamer exposes printed or padded fabric to saturated or superheated steam so that the dyes penetrate and fix in the fibre; ageing is the related steaming step used to develop certain dye classes. It follows printing and drying, or continuous padding, and comes before washing-off. Fabric speed, fabric capacity inside the steamer, steam conditions and loop or roller transport are compared.

6 models of this class are held. None of them carries its builder's published figures yet - the register knows the machines exist and not what they do.
