ISO 1833-12 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 12: Mixtures of acrylic, certain modacrylics, certain chlorofibres, certain elastane fibres with certain other fibres (method using dimethylformamide)
Acrylic, some modacrylics, some chlorofibres and some elastanes dissolved in dimethylformamide. The part that covers the widest set of fibres, and correspondingly the one where identifying the fibre first matters most: several of them look alike under a microscope and behave differently in DMF. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
