ISO 1833-16 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 16: Mixtures of polypropylene fibres with certain other fibres (method using xylene)
Polypropylene dissolved in hot xylene, leaving almost everything else. Polypropylene resists nearly every reagent in the series, which is why it needs a boiling hydrocarbon to shift it. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
