ISO 1833-17 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 17: Mixtures of cellulose fibres and certain fibres with chlorofibres and certain other fibres (method using concentrated sulfuric acid)
Cellulose fibres dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid, leaving chlorofibres and other resistant synthetics. The stronger companion to Part 11, for blends where the residue would survive the milder acid but the cellulose would not fully dissolve. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
