ISO 1833-2 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 2: Ternary fibre mixtures
Ternary mixtures - three fibres rather than two. It is the hardest arithmetic in the series because it needs two successive dissolutions on separate specimens, and each carries its own correction factor and its own error. A three-fibre blend analysed as though it were two is the commonest way a composition label goes wrong. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
