ISO 1833-20 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 20: Mixtures of elastane with certain other fibres (method using dimethylacetamide)
Elastane dissolved in dimethylacetamide, leaving the ground fibre. Every stretch fabric needs this one, and elastane is the component most often mis-declared: it is present in small percentages where a small absolute error is a large relative one. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
