ISO 1833-22 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 22: Mixtures of viscose or certain types of cupro or modal or lyocell with flax fibres (method using formic acid and zinc chloride)
Viscose, cupro, modal or lyocell dissolved in formic acid with zinc chloride, leaving flax. The linen-blend counterpart of Part 6, and it carries the same difficulty: flax and regenerated cellulose are both cellulose, so the separation depends on accessibility rather than chemistry. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
