ISO 1833-29 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 29: Mixtures of polyamide with polypropylene/polyamide bicomponent (method using sulfuric acid)
Polyamide dissolved in sulfuric acid, leaving the polypropylene side of a polypropylene/polyamide bicomponent fibre. The newest problem in the series: a bicomponent fibre is one fibre made of two polymers, so the question is not what the blend contains but what the fibre itself is made of. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
