ISO 1833-3 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 3: Mixtures of acetate with certain other fibres (method using acetone)

Acetate dissolved in acetone, leaving the other fibre behind. The workhorse method for acetate blends, and the one to reach for before the benzyl alcohol or acetic acid variants, which exist for the cases where acetone will not do. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
