ISO 1833-4 Textiles — Quantitative chemical analysis — Part 4: Mixtures of certain protein fibres with certain other fibres (method using hypochlorite)
Protein fibres - wool, silk, other animal hair - destroyed by hypochlorite, leaving cellulosics or synthetics. Hypochlorite is aggressive: over-running it attacks the residue as well, which shows up as an inflated protein figure that looks like an honest result. The residue is weighed and corrected by the factor d that the standard gives for that fibre in that reagent; the dissolved component is the difference. Identify the fibres by microscopy first - the method assumes you already know which two you have.
