The Global Hemp Fiber Summit addresses the part of the hemp industry that is a textile problem rather than an agricultural one: decortication, degumming, and getting bast fibre to a length and fineness that existing cotton or wool spinning systems can actually process. That processing gap, not cultivation, is what has held hemp textiles back at scale.
The programme runs from seed genetics through to spun yarn, which is unusual and useful — most fibre events pick one end of that chain. Held at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
