A yarn covering machine wraps one or two yarns around an elastomeric core, usually spandex, held under controlled draft, giving single- or double-covered elastic yarn. It takes core and covering yarns from spinning or texturing and supplies hosiery, narrow fabric and stretch fabric production; air covering versions entangle the yarns with air jets instead of wrapping. Number of spindles, spindle speed and core draft range are compared.
