A ginning and bale pressing plant separates cotton lint from the seed after harvest, cleans the lint and compresses it into dense, strapped bales for transport to spinning mills. It sits at the very start of the cotton chain, before the blowroom; gins are of roller or saw type, which differ in fibre length suited and fibre damage. Bales per hour, gin type and lint cleaning stages are compared.
