A steaming and steam-shrinking machine relaxes wool and wool-blend fabric with steam while it lies on a conveyor without tension, removing latent shrinkage so that garments do not shrink during pressing and making up. It comes at the end of wool finishing and differs from decatising in letting the fabric shrink freely rather than setting it on a cylinder. Fabric speed and working width are compared.
