Four completely different faults produce the same 88%. A mill that reads the number and orders "improve efficiency" has issued an instruction nobody can act on.

The Yarn

Count decides the ideal, so it decides everything downstream

English count. If the mill works in TM rather than TPI, TPI = TM x the square root of Ne.

The Shift Sheet

One row per frame per shift, read straight off the sheet the mill already keeps. Two columns decide whether the answer means anything. Rostered hours is how long the frame was scheduled, NOT how long it was turning - there is deliberately no "hours run" column, because that phrase means different things in different mills and accepting it lets downtime hide inside the number meant to expose it. Designed speed is what the machine was built for, not what it is set to; leave it equal to actual speed if it is not known, and the speed loss will read zero rather than guess.
