High-speed embroidery machines and ATC machines require maximum accuracy when threading up and putting the spools. Before each threading up the process, the machine has to be clean from dirt and dust and especially after running cotton yarn it is necessary to clean the machine with compressed air.

  • Every thread must be taken off from the right side of the spool
  • Thread has to go straight to the thread rollers
  • Thread should unspool easily without tension, spools have to turn easily
  • If spools are heavy, it is recommended to put washers under the spools. Adjustment of spool holder system without yarn breakage and prevents yarn from being taken off with irregular tension.
  • Depending on the type of thread, the front yarn has to be wound at least two times and max. three times around the roller
  • Make sure that number of windings (2 or 3) is the same for all the rollers with the same yarn
  • Make as few windings as possible (if two windings are sufficient do no wind three times)
  • As there are no standards concerning the number of windings required for a certain yarn, threads have to be tested as to whether they require a double or triple winding (e.g. double winding, then pull the thread and test whether it holds on the roller or if the thread requires an extra winding).
