Domotex is the principal international fair for carpets and floor coverings, running at the Hannover fairground under Deutsche Messe. It covers the whole floor: hand-knotted and hand-woven rugs, machine-made broadloom and tiles, and the resilient and wood coverings that compete with them.
For a textile audience the interest is concentrated in the machine-made and tufted halls, where construction is the differentiator — pile height and density, tuft bind, backing systems, and increasingly the recyclability of a carpet whose face and backing are different polymers. The hand-knotted halls remain the largest gathering of that trade anywhere.
The next edition runs 17–20 January 2028 in Hannover; the organiser now announces it on a two-year rhythm rather than the annual one it kept for most of its history.
