ASTM D3887 Standard Specification for Tolerances for Knitted Fabrics
What counts as within tolerance for a knitted fabric — the allowable spread on weight, width and stitch density rather than the target itself.

Verification coverage
Not yet checked: AATCC, BIS, SAC, JIS, EN, DIN — an absent row here does not mean no equivalent exists.
What this standard is for
Where it is used
Knit fabric purchase contracts, and incoming inspection where a lot is being accepted or rejected against a specification.
Why it matters
A specification with a target and no tolerance is unenforceable, because no knitted lot hits a target exactly. Naming a tolerance standard is what turns a number into an acceptance criterion.
What to watch for
Tolerances apply to a conditioned, relaxed fabric. Knits keep moving after they come off the machine, so a measurement taken too early will fail a tolerance the fabric would have met.
