ITMA is the reference point of the textile machinery calendar. Held every four years since Brussels in 1951 and owned by CEMATEX — the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers — it is where the machine builders of Europe, Japan, China, India and Turkey put their next generation of equipment on a hall floor at the same time, which is the only moment the trade gets to compare them side by side rather than through datasheets.

Its four-year cycle is the reason it matters more than its size alone would suggest. A spinner or a weaver replacing a frame is committing capital for twenty years, and ITMA is the show that sets the reference for what that decision looks like for the rest of the cycle. Announcements held back for it routinely define the following four years of the trade: automated doffing, digital printing at production speed, and energy-per-kilogram claims have each had their ITMA moment.

The 2027 edition returns to Hanover, Germany. ITMA alternates with ITMA Asia + CITME, which runs on its own two-year rhythm in China and serves the Asian installed base.
